Hawks @ Monctonian AAA Challenge - Day 3 - quarterfinals

The Moncton BlueWater Mobil Hawks pulled off a W in their quaterfinal game against a determined and competitive Northwest Bulls team.  The Bulls finished atop Section F and 4th overall in the standings with a 3-0-0 record, while the Hawks finished with a 2-0-1 record atop Section A and 5th overall of the U15 AAA division.

The Hawks took an early lead in the first period with goals from Bélanger (unassisted) and Guitard (Veilleux, Walsh), before giving up a goal on a lost puck between a Hawks D's foot. Haws 2 Bulls 1 after 15 minutes.

The second period was all Bulls buisness as they pressed the Hawks hard in their zone scoring 30 seconds into the period to tie things up and again late in frame to take the lead 3 to 2.

In the third period, both teams elevated their level of play, putting pucks deep in the opposite zone, finifhin their hits and blocking shots. The Hawks tied things up midway in the frame on a nice setup power play goal by MacPhee (Bélanger) and later in the period on a beauty breakaway goal by Hanscomb on a sweet feed from MacPhee to take the lead and win the game 4-3.

Doiron takes the W for the Hawks in a solid performance.

The Moncton BlueWater Mobil Hawks journey continues at the 2023 Monctonian this evening as they will face the WearWell Bombers at 8:30pm at the Superior Propane Center on rink D.
